Bodrum (Halikarnassos) was built in the 11th century BC by the Carians and was later occupied by the Greeks, the Romans and the Crusaders. Herodotus, the "Father of History" was born in Bodrum in 454 BC. One of the seven wonders of the world, the "Mausoleum" of King Mausolos was built here 2500 years ago.
